The easy start system on the Makita DCS3501 uses spring pressure to help overcome the compression resistance. Three pumps on the fuel primer fill the carburettor with fuel and the combination switch is moved to its upper position for both half throttle & choke functions. The side mounted air intake has been designed to aid the feed of clean air into the engine, keeping unwanted sawdust out.
